Just focusing a bit on the muscles of the face.. will start on the muscles of the neck soon. A small attempt at drawing water is included here but it was a googled image that I was using as my reference photo. I am going to go for a walk and pick out a little pond near here with some cool stuff to really challenge myself with.. lilly pads, shadows, shallow water and stuff like that. I’ve been working on a small relief sculpture that I hope to get cast. I’m doing it in oil based clay and will take a mold from it when it is done. The idea is to use the sculpture as a signature… almost like a signet ring. I’ll have to do several of them in different sizes and designs – doing proper relief sculpture is tougher than it looks!
It was very fun making this book and one day I will “have many leather-bound books”… with sketches from cover to cover. Last summer I was injured in an accident at work and found myself with a considerable amount of time on my hands… this was seen as a bad thing at the time but it there was some good that came of it.
